The Variable ND2-400 Filter provides 1 to 8.66 f-stops of light reduction, giving you greater creative control in changing light. By blocking 1 to 8.66 f-stops, you can use wider apertures in variable light for shallower depth of field effects, and slower shutter speeds for long exposure effects without overexposing your images. Cinematographers can use the ND2–400 Variable ND Filter to create more cinematic effects in low and bright light. The filter includes a travel tin case for protection, as well as a recycled cleaning cloth, and recycled plastic free packaging.

    How To Use:

    1. Find your filter size. Inquisitively search lens for diameter symbol. O often marks the spot. The diameter you seek may be accompanied by a number - 058 or 058mm. Look to the side and the front - this precious number is your filter size. Be warned: your lens focal length (e.g. 18-55mm) is not your filter size.

    2. Place flat and screw clockwise. Excitedly behold lens in one hand and place flat on lens. Gently screw clockwise until just firm. Do not over-tighten that which goes on must one day come off.

    3. Slow your shutter. The 1 to 8.66 f-stop darkening of your images allows you to slow your shutter speed for motion blur effects.

    4. Open your aperture. Or, you can adjust for the darkening by opening up your aperture, which creates a shallower depth of field. You can also combine both exposure setting adjustments.

    5. Get more cinematic. Use our ND2400 to create more cinematic effects when filming. By blocking 1 to 8.66 f-stops of light, you can open your aperture for a shallower depth of field, creating stunning cinematic effects in different and changing light conditions.
